Kate Holford is an artist and writer based in Glasgow. She is interested in stories and affects of desire, violence, and melancholia, and the ways image-making can express and manipulate them. Many projects consider these ideas in relation to landscape and extraction. Her research integrates the political potentials of fiction, and of psychoanalysis. She works with painting, installation, drawing, photography and writing.
Kate’s work has been exhibited in London, Glasgow, Bristol and elsewhere in the UK. In 2025-26 she developed a body of research with artist Pippa Thomas, undertaking a residency at 16 Collective , Glasgow, which culminated in the exhibition Death by Landscape at 173 Trongate. The project was supported by the Glasgow Life Arts Development Scheme and Creative Scotland.
Kate is currently the Co-director and Curator of Boardroom Committee Room CIC, Glasgow, and was Co-founder and Art Director of Stillpoint Magazine from 2018-2022.
